Though your intention is to help OP, there are certain things that need to be observed especially in this climate where there is lot of backlash against legal immigrants. We have to ensure that we do not provide any ammu to anti's with our comments.
For an employer to sponsor a foreign worker on H1B,
First of all, there needs to be a skilled worker position open and available in US and
2nd that there are no "qualified" US citizens are available to fill that position.
OP's post goes against both these conditions, Forget about the rest such as bad economy, survival etc.. as per law, Employer has to pack the H1B home if the position is knocked off with a flight ticket and a reasonable relocation.
No offense to any one but just calling for more caution as we have seen increased number of posts like these.

Here is the calculation I came up with USCIS processing of our I-485 applications.
USCIS should allocate 140,000 applications in a fiscal year. So, in a month they need to process, at least, 140,000/ 12 = 11,667 applications.
Assuming that they have, at least, 20 working days in a month, they need to process 11,667/ 20 = 584 applications.
So, now the question is, how many employees does USCIS have and are dedicated to the I-485 processing? We don�t know the exact number. Considering that USCIS is getting lot of revenue, they should have, at least, 50 employees doing this work.
So, 584/50 = 12(Approx) applications they need to process in a day, per person.
So, do you think it is viable? Of course, it is�
What they need to process the I-485 application? They are not doing any FBI names check, or background check (Assuming that everything is done by other organization). So, how long does it take to review the I-485 application? Well, when I filled the application, it took me about 1 hour. So, to review it, let�s us say, it takes about 1/2 the time fill the application; that�s about half an hour. Considering the calculation that we made, it takes an about 6 hours to process 12 candidates. With this assumption, they still have 2 hours left to do miscellaneous tasks. Now the question is what the heck they are doing all the time? Why did they process only 80,000 applications in about 8 months? Are they lazy? Don�t they have enough employees (This shouldn�t be; an average Indian consultant company will have at least 20 employees!!). This is really a mystery. GC approval is always unknown even when Priority Date current and they club with diff criterias...:( fully a crazy system..

If you are making 200K+/yr, just bite your lip and stay put. There are very very few careers which give you such a good pay scale.
I don't think you can do a MS in CompSci with out a BS with same specialization as far as understanding subject matter goes, but you could possibly do an MS in Information systems or similar.
But it all depends on your GRE score. If you have a high GRE score with good percentile in quantitative section then you could get into a good program.
I came to canada in 2000.I have been in USA Since 2003.
I started the GC process in Ohio, moved to bay area in 2006,stated the process again, recaptured old PD( EB2 all the way). Was hoping to get GC in Aug 2008 when my PD was current for 2 months. Hope will get it this year.
After moving to bay area I saw lots of engineer,mostly software, seemed happy with jobs. Started doing some search and found that this is one of the least stressful jobs in US with great salary and growth potential. There is no more growth in my field and it is very stressful and draining.

unless you are a European on EB3.
My lawyer told me the backlog is 400K. As an European, I am expecting to wait between 2 to 3 years for my GC. Anything sooner would be a nice surprise!

Our Current EAD is expiring on 10/01/2008. So we had applied for extension in june. On july 7th our application was approved and today we recieved our EAD cards. I was expecting a one year extension , which is until 10/01/2009. But USCIS send us ead cards that will expire on 01/01/2009.
What should be the course of action here. Do i need to reapply or just contact USCIS and will they be able to fix it? Any body on similiar situation.?

there is a small shops complex there called chappan dukaan... very famous hangout place for all indorians... just remembered :)

BimmerFan, my wife is planning to apply for the med school and mostly the hospitals tend to apply for J visa instead of H1-B. Of course my preference is to get H1-B for her to avoid the J1 waiver process and who knows how tough their policy might turn out to be once you apply.

I need advice..My project ended yesterday and I have another opportunity to work on EAD. I know my current employer will not be able to find a job for me as has been the case earlier and he will remove me from payroll soon. Can I start working with new employer and do not resign from my current employer?

Just got back from UK on Friday after a month of family time, medicals and our embassy interview! Wanted to let you all know that we were approved and happily back in the US!!

Please file a new H1B extension petition with a copy of contract between the client and your company.. the actual contract, if the client/vendor do not want to share that with your attorney then ask the client/vendor to directly send that to USCIS fax number and ask your attorney to mention in a seperate letter that client contract/letter (copy of original) will be sent by their attorney in so and so time.
I had the RFE on Sept 2009 on premium processing, I have done tha above and got approved for an year even though my I-140 is approved on 2005 and 10 years in the USA.
Please do needful and be on status.

Guys this is not a post to project your problems. This is the post to build up support and encourage immigration voice to plan a campaign to address current backlogs and future backlogs which will sent in after August. Please build up support instead of asking questions. It is almost obvious the situation is not gonna improve in october, but it will go worse!!!

Hi, This is my first post here and I need some guidance regarding new-H1 under FY2010 quota.
--One of my friend told me about this company in Chicago who is doing H-1s and apparently the quota is not over yet. I am in India and
--Is it advisable to get my H01 filed at this time?
--What if the USCIS asks client letters? They said, the company will take care of it if that happens -- is that even legal to say that?
--What is the probably the CAP will be met by that time they file my H-1 in the next 2 weeks? And am not sure if the attorney returns the money in that case.
Please suggest. Thanks

Please be mindful if you are applying from home thru' so called consultancies. I have seen (not heard) enough cases being abused...
bottomline, dont fall for something if it sounds too good to be true. you dont want to become a statistic! good luck..
