My checks were cashed yesterday. My application reached NSC on July 14. My I-140 was also approved from NSC.
I got the receipt numbers from the back of the checks, however when I entered them on the USCIS website, it said that the numbers were invalid. Any idea if I need to wait another day or so before the system will accept them?

On another note, it appears that the US has chosen to PRETEND to deal with immigration (legal and illegal) by endlessly proposing and killing legislation in Congress. This way they're throwing a bone to us (immigrants) while safeguarding their re-election (since they're not approving any kind of pro-immigration legislation, they aren't incurring the wrath of the almighty electorate).

thanks for responding...any contradicting/second opinions? What is the exemption towards - both filing for 485 and processing of 485 too, right? Isn't it an exemption from the EB quota?
The exemption is just to file, the processing will however take what ever the regular processing time would at that point of time. I am sure that there is no provision to expedite the "processing" of I145.

I feel much better. These are trying times for sure.
Loads of work at the office, moving from one city to another and above all...this frustrating wait --- Its 2 much 2 handle. But I'm with u guyz...I think I shud just STFU N wait.
For all those waiting for approval, its does help to find out if a visa number has been requested for your application. My understanding is that all the applications which are ready for adjudication are moved to a separate area and visa number is requested for those.Infact if you can find out (I think the guys at Infopass only have access to that information. Not sure if the level 2 service does) it helps. If a visa number has been assigned or requested for your application it will get approved.
I am not sure if assigned to an officer or with an officer status has any material value when it comes to approval unless a visa number has been requested.

i guess ur fine. My collegue here won similar case in NJ. I am sure they'll pay u if u put little pressure on them. I would think twice before i report him to DOL & DHS only the reason being it might affect all other employees that are currently working for your previous company. If they don't pay u, i guess u have no choice to go for a fomal complaint.

Just so that we are clear, please note that signing online petitions doesn't mean anything if there is no matching advocacy. Timing of the activity is also very important. In the end, advocacy and grassroots effort must compliment each other at the same time. The website you are referring is an advertisement website. Its not a resource for serious advocacy effort.
The Congress is right now focused on DREAM Act. If we just say "Erase Green card backlog", it will mean nothing. But there is a chance if we send specific targeted message asking to include specific provisions in the bill that appear to be moving (i.e. DREAM Act in this case), and IV is complimenting this message with the advocacy on the ground.
Just sending random email from some online advertisement for profit website does not mean anything. We think that some of these websites are just collecting your Email and Home Address, which they could sell for making profit.
Immigration Voice would like to request its all members not to send out random messages from advertisement websites because such messages are out of sink with reality. Please participate in the well defined and targeted 'Action Items' on IV.

Plain and simple question, are you a donor or a volunteer.. if yes.. then you must be aware of
the different initiatives that IV has taken up for EB3, which I guess you are not aware of.
As you don't want to donate or volunteer what makes you think that you can tell IV on what to do and what not to do.. Are you even associated in anyways.
I have never ever seen such a big thankless following of a group. Everyone is in trouble and everyone has problem but cannot donate.
Wanted to write a lot more , but I think its not worth it. I just hope your conscious makes you feel ashamed of this attitude of yours.
I don't usually comment on such posts and I have seen a lot of people take the side I am about to take. I just think you are being unnecessarily rude. It is these people and their opinions that cause IV to exist as a group. Lets say you are going to lock membership only to people paying a membership fee every month. How big a group are you going to get?
If it is going to be significant, then maybe that's the way IV should go and should just shut down public forums where there are members who can talk and members who have "not bought their right to talk"
I bring up the "monthly membership" issue because I did make donations on multiple occasions (you should probably look up your records and verify). And yet, under the new design, I am not a donor, I do not get access to the exclusive threads that only the privileged monthly members do. So, just like the OP, I am a thankless member who thinks the group is thankless. So, I do not know what initiatives IV has taken, but yet, I linger around the forums because it has so many smart people throwing around ideas, working on theories and just being friendly.
Maybe you should just create a little forum of yours in one corner and put walls around so no one can come in and make suggestions about things you won't tell them about. Does it take that much effort to be nice to someone? Just remember that he is free to tell you what to do irrespective of who he is. What you actually do is upto you. Just be nice for a change, it will make you get a whole new perspective on life!

Folks who opened an SR and had NSC-CSC-NSC transfers, what is the format of the ref # the Cust Service Rep gave you??

I also got this format. but response, came from NSC after 30 days of filing SR.
I had called in the middle to confirm whether SR went to CSC. Rep said requests will get to apprpriate service center.
the other problem is for people like us, the status says " case traansferred and pending at uscis office". I find that reps find it hard to figure out where it is pending. because of wac number, they sometimes conclude it is CSC.
the status on phone says "pending at lincoln".

When I joined Company X (prior employer) I paid for H1b transfer fee and h1b renewal fee(total $3200 + $3000).
They agreed to sponsor my green card(just to give required paperwork) and they asked me to pay GC cost, So far I have paid $1500 for labor +$1700 advertisement + $1700 for I-140 + $3750 just now to file I-485 for me and for my spouse as dates were current to my lawyer . I have labor and I-140 approved from Company X.
I was compromising my personal life by staying away from my family and company X didn't find any client near to my home. I decided to stay at home hoping Company X will find some client near to my home. I was on a bench(no salary for a month).When I asked for a "employment letter "to file I-485 Comapny X said they can't give because they are
not paying me , I said I will resign and then you give me "future employement letter". I resiged Company X( i found company Y near to my home), in 10 days they cancelled my H1b visa without informing me, gladly I found Company Y and H1b transfer took place before they could cancel my H1b. Company X is reluctant even today to give future emplyement
letter.They are ready to do corp-to-corp, for that I have to pay them H1b tranfer cost of $3200(as my prior h1b got cancelled by company X) . I don't beleive its worth going back to them , but at the same time never wanted to lose $8650 green card cost. To join Company Y again I paid h1b transfer fee and , company Y expects me to pay Green card cost again. I am on 7th year extension. Wanted to know what the members here think of the probability of receiving RFE from USCIS to find out whether the applicant is still in a "same or similar" job when the time comes to adjudicate cases for for EB3 India.
I ask this because in a poll conducted in a separate thread, it seems the number of people waiting for their GCs are more with PDs before Dec 2004 than after that date.
When the dates become current again for these people, do you think USCIS will be sending RFEs to get the employment information for every single of them ? Is there is a percentage from the pending applications that they pick for RFE, assuming all applicants who changed employers DID NOT notify USCIS when they changed jobs OR is it completely up to the whims of the adjudicating officer to send an RFE ?

Trying to understand whether USCIS will think twice before sending RFEs for everyone as the number of applicants waiting with PDs of 2004 and earlier are huge now than ever before. Won't it be too overwhelming for them to issue RFEs to all and manage their responses?
